The National Directorate of Immigration, through Decree 475/2018, published on May 21 in the Official Gazette, updated the tariff schedule of fees that reflects a significant increase in service fees for each of the migration procedures to be carried out before this organization.
REASONS FOR THE INCREASE IN MIGRATION FEES
According to the National Directorate of Migration in the aforementioned decree, the update in the amount of migration fees responds to the following reasons:
- The monitoring of permanence throughout the national territory, as well as the processing, management, supervision, and granting of residency for foreign citizens wishing to reside in Argentina, require a significant allocation of technical and human resources that are insufficiently compensated by the currently applicable fees.
- The elimination of the reciprocity fee for the United States, Australia, and Canada.
- The authorization of new air routes to tourist operators, the authorization of new airlines, the high demand arising from the control of the entry and exit of people from the various air stations authorized throughout the national territory, make it necessary to increase new technology and significantly increase human resources.
- The need to incorporate modernization mechanisms in migration control to effectively meet the objectives of the new national migration policy.
