NEW REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC

ingresar

From January 9 to January 31, 2021, inclusive, the Argentine National Government, together with the National Directorate of Migration, the Ministry of Health of the Nation and the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), established new measures and requirements for entering the Argentine Republic, considering the global epidemiological situation and the increase in coronavirus cases in the Argentine Republic,

Among the adopted measures are the following:

  • Flights to and from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland remain suspended as a consequence of the epidemiological situation in those places due to the new strain of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
  • The entry of tourists from neighboring countries who are nationals or foreign residents of those countries remains suspended.
  • The entry of foreign citizens is restricted, except for cases expressly authorized by the National Directorate of Migration, which will accept entries under conditions of family reunification, work, or health reasons, duly justified.
  • Exiting and re-entering from and to the Argentine Republic implies acceptance by each citizen of the health and immigration conditions of the destination country and the Argentine Republic upon return, assuming the resulting health, legal, and economic consequences, such as the inability to start the trip with COVID-19 compatible symptoms, the need to have a COVID traveler health service abroad for medical coverage and/or isolation, and to report the places where they were during the 14 days prior to re-entry to the Argentine Republic, among others.
  • Comply with the conditions imposed by the national health authority and submit to the control of the City of Buenos Aires, provincial authorities, and municipalities, in their respective jurisdictions and areas of competence.
  • The only border crossings enabled for entry to the Argentine Republic for Argentine citizens and/or residents are the airports of Ezeiza and San Fernando, as well as the Buquebús terminal.
  • Land border crossings will remain closed, except for international trade and/or to allow the entry of Argentines or residents who left the country between April and December 25, 2020.
  • Argentine citizens or foreign residents who left the Argentine Republic after December 25, 2020, must enter the country through the authorized airports.
  • The border crossings of San Sebastián and Integración Austral, both located in Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic Islands and Santa Cruz, respectively, remain exempt from the restriction measures in order to guarantee transit with Chile and the connection with the rest of the Argentine territory.
  • Argentine citizens or foreign residents coming from countries that offer PCR results within less than 72 hours must present it without exception in the entry affidavit.
  • Argentine citizens or foreign residents coming from countries where PCR results may exceed 72 hours are allowed to take the PCR test upon arrival in the Argentine Republic, accompanied by a medical certificate indicating the absence of COVID-19 compatible symptoms and include it in the entry affidavit. For this, they must also accompany the affidavit with a note indicating the reason for not presenting a negative PCR result conducted within the 72 hours prior to their boarding to Argentina.

Although flights to and from Australia, Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands have been restored, according to the Director of the National Directorate of Migration, Lic. Florencia Carignano, this agency, together with the Ministry of Health and ANAC, will implement the necessary measures to reduce the frequency of flights by 30%, particularly those flights coming from the USA, Europe, Brazil, and Chile. For this reason, she stated, “…For this reason, it is essential that people who have airline tickets for January confirm their flight with their airlines before going to the airport…

Likewise, it is recommended not to attach PCR tests or medical certificates that exceed 2 MB in size nor those that are password-protected, as this makes their validation impossible by the National Directorate of Migration.
